Money Is
emotional

Most finance apps track numbers.

Monai helps you understand the why.

THE PROBLEM
I kept hearing the same thing.

People felt anxious from their finance apps.

82% said money was their biggest stressor.
41% stopped checking their accounts entirely.

It wasn't a discipline problem. It was shame.

Every red alert or warning felt like being scolded.
So people looked away.

I wanted to design a safer way to look at money.

So I threw out the dashboard.

What if instead of charts, the app opened with a conversation?

I wanted something that felt like a friend checking in.

Monai notices your patterns, asks how you're feeling, and makes it totally okay to not answer.

Money Mood

I was most excited about this feature.

It maps purchases to how you felt because nobody overspends for no reason. There's always an emotion behind it.

This project taught me that emotional safety isn't a soft metric. It's the difference between an app people avoid and one they return to. Design for how people feel, and the numbers follow.
